
Karen is a board certified veterinary clinical pathologist who is passionate about diagnostic clinical pathology, haematology and veterinary education.
She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2002 and then worked in mixed and small animal clinical practice, including a small animal rotating internship, for five years. She then moved to the United States to pursue a Haematology and Transfusion Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and there she found her love of clinical pathology. She completed a clinical pathology residency and lectureship at the University of Pennsylvania and earned ACVP board certification in 2010.
She has over 15 years’ experience in diagnostic clinical pathology and undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary education both within Australia and internationally and an honorary position at the University of Queensland. Her specific interests are in diagnostic cytology, haematology, transfusion medicine and snake venom research.
